Welcome to Axologle!

Axologle includes microarray expression data comparing time courses of healing non-regenerative lateral wounds with regeneration of amputated limbs in axolotl. In addition, Axologle contains gene expression data obtained by in situ hybridization of a subset of regeneration-specific genes identified by the microarray.

Transcriptomic database is searchable and it includes the sequence of the target transcripts, the mapping (when available) of EST clones whose sequences were included in the final assembled contigs, microarray probe sequences and the log2 normalized expression levels for all assigned microarray probes.

Expression profiling using microarray

Regeneration of the axolotl forelimb was compared with the healing of a deep lateral injury in a high density timecourse (uncut limb, 3h, 6h, 9h, 12h, 24h, 36h, 52h, 72h, 120h, 168h, 288h and 528h after injury). Three independent biological replicates were performed using separate clutches of animals. Amputated and lateral wound samples were made as matched contralateral samples of four pooled animals per timepoint.

RNA In-situ hybridization

In situ stainings were performed on animals that measured 3.5-4.5 cm from nose to cloaca at 3, 5, 7 and 12 days after injury (see protocol). Representative results from all experiments (successful and failed) are included.
